Damn that Halloween Candy!

For several days now, I've been working at the kitchen table instead of in my office because the kids have been sick (thank goodness babysitter extraordinaire April was back today!!!)

I'm surrounded by little tiny candy bars. SURROUNDED. Those little candies are so misleading. I think --- oh a mini snickers will be the perfect little treat right now while I work on this meeting agenda. Oh, i'll just have one of those little tiny butterfingers before my conference call.

Yeah. So now I'm throwing the halloween candy away. In the trash. Gone. The kids won't even miss it!

My Sam

Ever since Sam learned to smile we've all known that he would be THAT KID that got away with just about anything by turning on the charm. Really, how can you truly get mad at him?? Anytime i start getting mad at him he looks at me with this very disarming grin and just says --- I love you mom!

My mom just sent me an email - I just have to copy it directly here:

I can't let the day pass without telling you what Sam said today.

We were fixing our little pizzas and he looked up at me and said...Grandma you are the most beautiful person in the house and this is the most delicious pizza

I just about fell over. You never know what is going to come out of him!!!

I'm sure I should be worried that he's going to be a complete mess of a kid but charm his way out of every bit of detention ... but come on. How can you resist that???

Apple, Apple, Joy, Joy

I promise there will be many more posts to come - but I just stole this pic from a friend's blog so thought I'd post it right away!

Sam and his Joy School friends picking apples at a local orchard.
OHH how Sam loves school! I'm SURE it has nothing to do with that cutie he's holding hands with! (or her mom, with whom he's also quite smitten!)

Can I still blame it on the move?

It feels like everything I do lately is about 3 days late and a bit sub-par. I'm not sure if I just got into the 'do what you can' mode while we were moving & experiencing a crazier than normal summer? Or if maybe this is the new me? Take this blog for instance. I have lots of fun pictures on my camera of the end of summer, the first days of school etc. Feelin' a mite too lazy to unload those pictures from my camera. (OK - this one I probably CAN blame on the move... I'm really not sure I could put my fingers on the camera cord).

I think this particular new problem of mine hit me full force the other night. I was sitting with my favorite gals at one of my favorite yummy spots and we started talking about birthday parties. Really, I posed the question, "How can I get away without giving Lily a birthday party this year?" Now if you don't know this about me --- I"m a fairly crazy party giving girl! It is, after all, what I do for a living (well, not as many parties as I might like... but a whole lot of planning!) I have been known to go pretty out of control on the theme birthday parties. But truly, this year I am so over it! I WANT to want to do it. Really! But I just don't.

Sorry Lily. I love you. But you know, we had this crazy summer... we moved and all... :)

One more catch up: Saying Goodbye

Disclaimer: I love my phone almost as much as my children - but I must say, it is not a high quality camera :)

This one's short and sweet and a little bit of a heart breaker. Anna and Sam INSISTED a couple weeks ago that we go back so that they could say a proper goodbye...

to our house.

Catch Up: Hail to the Redskins!

Curtis took Sam to the last day of the Redskins Training Camp (which is just down the road). All week, Sam was so excited that they were going to a football game. He about died when Curtis came home one night with a jersey. He was SURE that he was going to meet Santana Moss.

They had a really fantastic time. It was hot and Sam was on Curtis' shoulders and he kept pulling Curtis' hair saying GO, GO! Curtis thought Sam wanted to leave. As soon as Curtis turned to leave, though, Sam yelled -- NO - go PLAY! He was so intent on PLAYING with the Redskins. Curtis laughed and said, sorry Sam - you can't play with them. Sam just looked at him with such judgement in his eyes and said --- But you haven't even ASKED! JUST ASK!

One day, Sam... One day...
